Philly Cheesesteak Pizza combines two classic comfort foods into one superfood that everyone will love. A crispy on the outside, tender on the inside pizza crust that is topped with delicious Philly cheesesteak goodness, resulting in a pizza that has the best of all possible worlds. It’s one of the best variations of pizza you’ll ever make!

If there are two things my family loves, it’s Philly cheesesteak and pizza. They’re both tops on our list of savory comfort food. All that cheesy, meaty goodness that you find in either dish is always a winner for us.
So I decided to combine them in the same way that I combined grilled cheese sandwiches with Philly Cheesesteak. What I came up with was a delicious Philly cheesesteak pizza that’s full of that great Philly cheesesteak flavor piled high on a delicious pizza crust. It’s absolutely mouth-watering.
This recipe is sure to be a hit with everyone who eats it. After all, everyone loves pizza. I mean, how could they not? You can make pizza into anything you want it to be.
For all the carnivores out there, we have meat lovers pizzas. There are pizzas with classic sauce and white sauce. Heck, they even have vegetarian versions of pizzas. Everyone loves pizza, which is why I’m certain you’ll love this one.
Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
So here we are, my Philly cheesesteak pizza. When you look at the history of pizza, it only makes sense that it can be changed up so much, even as much as combining it with Philly cheesesteak. Pizza is, itself, simply a dish that people made with whatever was on hand. That means it’s inherently open to interpretation. Today, I’ve interpreted it through the lens of the Philly cheesesteak. You’ll get all the great flavor you love about the Philly cheesesteak sandwich spread over a delicious pizza crust that’s easy to make and so delicious.
Tips
This is a simple recipe, but like any from-scratch pizza recipe, there will be a bit of elbow grease involved. In addition, you’ll have to do a little bit of stovetop cooking for the Philly cheesesteak ingredients, but it’s all worth it. And don’t worry, the amount of labor involved is less than you think! Let’s take a look at some tip that will help you make the absolute best Philly cheesesteak pizza you’ve ever had.
Prepping the Dough Before Baking
Be sure to poke holes in the pizza dough before baking so the air can escape while cooking in the oven. This allows your pizza dough to rise all together.
Importance of Using Fresh Yeast
Be sure you are using yeast that is still fresh. Yeast that is older or outdated can be much less effective.
Proper Water Temperature
When adding warm water to the yeast, about 110 degrees, it’s important to ensure that it’s at the right temperature. If the temperature is too low the yeast won’t activate and if it is too hot, the hot water will kill the yeast.
Don’t Overcook the Beef and Veggies
This Philly cheesesteak pizza is topped with the classic beef, onions, and bell peppers that we love about the Philly cheesesteak. When cooking these together on the stove, don’t overcook them. Only cook the mixture until the onions and peppers are tender. They and the beef will continue to cook while the pizza is in the oven.
Storing Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
This pizza will last for up to four days in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. For longer storage, you can freeze the pizza for up to three months. Simply cut the pizza into individual slices, and tightly wrap them in plastic wrap. After that, place them in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag. To reheat, simply defrost the pizza in the refrigerator and then microwave it or heat it up in the oven.
