Crock Pot Chuck Roast is a simple and delicious way to make a family-friendly meal. This recipe takes advantage of the long cooking time in the slow cooker to ensure that this dish will be fork tender. The meat can simmer for hours with very little attention, making it perfect for busy families on the go!

Slow Cooker Chuck Roast

When it comes to a delicious and easy dinner, slow cooker chuck roast is hard to beat. With very little work, this inexpensive cut of meat tastes amazing and will be so tender.

What is pot roast?

A pot roast is a tough cut of meat that has been slow cooked in liquid. The term “pot roast” usually refers to beef, but it can be any animal. It is basically a tough and inexpensive cut of meat that is cooked for a long time in liquid until it is flavorful and tender.

Why Cook a Pot Roast in the Crockpot?

There are many reasons why cooking a pot roast in the crock pot is the best way to cook this chuck roast. The slow cooker is a great way to cook because it’s so easy and you can leave it unattended for hours. Plus, the slow cooking process will make this tough cut of meat very tender. That means, even the cheapest cut of meat will be fork tender.

Another reason why I like using my crockpot when making pot roast in the slow cooker or crock pot is because it saves energy. I love that my slow cooker won’t heat the house up like an oven will.

How to Thicken Gravy for Pot Roast

I use flour to thicken my gravy. When I am starting the beef in the slow cooker, I add the seasoning and the flour into a bag. Then I place the beef inside. This coats the beef evenly. As it cooks, the flour thickens the naturally occurring gravy.

Why Is My Crock-Pot Roast Tough?

If the pot roast or chuck roast is tough, it is because it needs more cooking time. As the beef cooks the muscles and connective tissues break down and this makes the beef tender. Also, if you cook the roast at a high temperature, the roast will be tough. Since you are using the slow cooker, this is not an issue.

How long do you keep a roast in a crock pot?

When I am making this chuck roast in the crock pot, I cook it for 6 hours on high. You can also cook the roast for 12 hours in low, depending on what works best for you.

What Kind Of Roast Is Good For Pot Roast

Since pot roast isn’t a specific cut of meat, there are several roasts that can be used. However, I like using chuck roast. It is my favorite cut because it cooks down perfectly in this recipe and it has the best flavor. It also comes with the best price tag.
