Ingredients
- Bow Tie Pasta (Farfalle): This pasta acts as the hearty base of the salad. Its ruffled edges are perfect for soaking up the Caesar dressing and tying all the flavors together. You can easily swap it for rotini, elbows, or any short noodle if needed.
- Romaine Lettuce: Chopped romaine hearts add that crisp, refreshing crunch that’s essential in Caesar salads. Short on time? Bagged chopped lettuce works great in a pinch.
- Chicken and Bacon: Rotisserie chicken brings quick, tender protein to the mix, while crumbled, crispy bacon adds a smoky, salty depth to every bite. Instead of rotisserie chicken, switch it up with grilled chicken or crispy chicken tenders. Shrimp or salmon are also a great poultry alternatives.
- Caesar Croutons and Dressing: Croutons bring crunch and contrast, while creamy Caesar dressing coats everything in this Caesar pasta salad recipe with that signature tangy sauce.
- Parmesan: Freshly shredded Parmesan gives the salad its cheesy, salty bite and balances out the creamy dressing.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Add More Crunch: Sprinkle on extra toppings like crispy chickpeas, toasted nuts, or seeds (like pepitas) for even more texture and crunch.
- Lighten It Up: Swap the Caesar dressing for a lighter, yogurt-based version to cut calories and boost the protein.
- Signature Caesar Veggies: Mix in Caesar-inspired favorites like cherry or grape tomatoes or diced cucumbers, for a fresh, colorful spin.
- Boost the Richness: Add anchovies for a classic punch to your chicken pasta caesar salad, or toss in chopped hard-boiled eggs for extra creaminess.

Expert Tips
- Salt Generously: Always salt the water generously when boiling pasta. It’s the easiest way to infuse the noodles with flavor and prevent a bland-tasting salad.
- Don’t Overcook the Pasta: Cook the pasta until just al dente—firm to the bite. Overcooked pasta can turn mushy and won’t hold up well when mixed with the other fresh ingredients.
- Rinse the Pasta: After draining, rinse the pasta under cold water. This stops the cooking process, cools it quickly, and helps prevent sticking when incorporating the rest of the ingredients.
- Storing: Keep any leftover chicken Caesar salad with pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Make sure to give it a quick toss before serving to loosen up the dressing.
Recipe FAQs
Yes! This pasta salad will keep for up to 5 days in the fridge. The longer the ingredients sit together, the more the flavors marinate and improve.
Not necessarily. Once drained, you can rinse the pasta under cold water and use it almost right away. This helps stop the cooking process and cools it quickly—check out more pasta tips above!
The most common mistake is not salting the pasta water enough. If the water isn’t well-seasoned, the pasta will lack flavor, and that blandness will carry through the entire Caesar salad with pasta.
