Who doesn’t love a good soft pretzel? They’re salty and crunchy, with just the right amount of chewiness. Soft pretzels are traditionally baked in an oven but they can also be cooked in a pan on your stovetop. These homemade soft pretzel bites are made from scratch and baked to resemble a traditional pretzel, only bite-sized!

Soft Pretzel Bites
Soft pretzel bites make a great snack or appetizer and you will never have a better pretzel than homemade.
What to Serve with Soft Pretzels
While pretzels are perfect just the way they are, they are also great with dip. Anything from mustard to cheese can be used. You can use a basic nacho cheese dip or you can make a beer cheese dip. You can use basic mustard or something fancier like raspberry mustard or simple honey mustard. One of my favorites is whipped cream cheese.
I have also seen pretzels replace bread in many other dips like spinach or artichoke dip.
Can you freeze pretzel bites?
If you want to make a large batch of this pretzel bites recipe ahead of time, so that you can have them on hand whenever you want or crave pretzels. You can freeze and then reheat them when you’re ready to eat. This is especially helpful if you’re preparing these fun appetizers for a party or event. Just bake up some extras in advance so that everyone will be able to enjoy your delicious creations without feeling left out. Having the pretzel bites in the freezer let you take them out and reheat them when you have an unexpected guest or want fresh-baked pretzels in a hurry. Or if you’d like, you can make full size pretzels.
Do you have to boil pretzels before baking?
Yes! If you are making pretzels from scratch, boiling them beforehand is important. Placing them in the boiling water, with baking soda, will allow them to have their chewy texture with the crispy outer layer. You might think that this is a wasted step, but it is critical for the best-tasting pretzels.
Do Homemade Pretzels Need to Be refrigerated
You do not need to refrigerate the homemade pretzels, however, you can do it to help them last the longest. It is vital that the pretzels be stored in an airtight container so that they do not get hard. If the pretzels start to feel slightly dried out and hard, you microwave them for about 15 seconds in order to make them soft again. The pretzels will last for a few days. If you do not think that you will finish the pretzels before they get stale, you will want to freeze them for later.
