How to Make Cabbage Roll Bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground hot Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon slap ya mama seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ยฝ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 15 ounce tomato sauce
  • 15 ounce petite diced tomatoes
  • 8 ounce beef broth
  • 8 ounce water
  • 6 ounce tomato paste
  • 1 head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup rice, uncooked
  • ยผ cup sliced green onions, optional, for topping

Instructions

  • In a dutch oven or large skillet, brown ground beef, Italian sausage, and onions over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.
  • Add the minced garlic and seasonings and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Drain and return to the pan.
  • Pour tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, water, tomato paste, and rice. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and cook for 15 minutes stirring frequently, then add chopped cabbage. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for an additional 7-10 minutes. Enjoy!
