Cheesy garlic Texas toast is a mouthwatering mix of Parmesan cheese and garlic. It’s made of thick slices of Texas toast that are buttered with a delicious cheesy spread and fried to golden perfection.

Living in Texas, it only makes sense that I make (and eat) a lot of Texas toast. It’s practically the state bread product. Made in Texas and just as big as everything else in it, Texas toast is the perfect side for almost anything. You can serve up these super thick slices of toast for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, afternoons snacks, or at potlucks or parties. There’s really no wrong place to serve them. I’ve been making this hearty toast for years, and one of my favorite ways to make it is loaded with garlic and cheese. It’s absolutely delicious and so incredibly easy to make!

Cheesy Garlic Texas Toast

These delicious garlic cheese bread variation of Texas toast starts out with those thick, hearty slices of Texas toast that we all know and love. Then, I slather it with butter and a mixture of garlic salt and parmesan cheese. After that, I pan fry it to crispy, golden perfection and serve it up with just about anything I can think of. Every bite is crispy, buttery, and loaded with garlic and parmesan. Oh, it’s so good.

Texas toast is a variation of regular toast in which the bread has been sliced to double the thickness of regular toast.

Who invented Texas toast?

Texas toast was invented in 1946 at the Pig Stand in Denton, Texas. An order of thicker bread sliced proved to be too thick for the toast, so cook, Wiley W. W. Cross, suggested buttering and grilling them in the pan.

Absolutely. They’ll keep well in the freezer for up to 3 months.

How do you freeze garlic toast?

Place the toast on a cookie sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Then, transfer the pieces to a heavy-duty freezer bag.

How to Store and Reheat Leftover Cheesy Garlic Toast

Store leftover garlic toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer in a heavy-duty freezer bag for up to 3 months.

To reheat this garlic toast, place the garlic toast slices in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for about 2 minutes at 330 degrees.

How to Make Cheesy Garlic Texas Toast

It only takes a few minutes and a few simple steps to make this recipe.

Step 1: Make the Garlic Butter

Beat the butter in a small bowl until creamy. Then, add the parmesan cheese and garlic salt and stir well.

Step 2: Make the Toast

Spread a thick layer of the butter mixture on one side of the bread. Then, place each piece of bread buttered side down in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until golden brown.
