  • Caramel Sea Salt Chips: A full 10 ounces of caramel sea salt chips add a blast of delicious caramel flavor to every bite.

See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact measurements.

Flavor Variations

  • Baking Chips: You can use any of your favorite baking chips with the basic cookie dough used for this recipe.
  • Nuts: Chopped pecans, walnuts, or almonds add a nice crunch and flavor that works perfectly with the caramel.
  • Chocolate Chips: Try a mix of chocolate and caramel chips for a classic flavor combination.

How to Make Sea Salt Caramel Cookies

1: Whisk the dry ingredients in a medium bowl and set aside.

2: Beat the butter and sugars in a large bowl until creamy. Then, add the remaining wet ingredients and beat until combined.

3: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Then, fold the caramel chips into the dough until combined.

4: Use a 1-inch cookie scoop to place dough balls onto a baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees until the edges begin to brown.

5: Remove the cookies, sprinkle with sea salt, and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Hint

It’s important to remove the cookies as soon as the edges begin to brown to ensure they cook to perfection. They’ll look a little underdone in the center but they’ll firm up!

Storage

Store these cookies for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, wrap the cookies in plastic wrap and freeze them for up to 2 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag.

What to Serve with Sea Salt Caramel Chip Cookies

A glass of milk or a cup of coffee or tea is the perfect way to enjoy these cookies. You can also make them part of a larger dessert table with other sweet treats like carrot cake cupcakes, Christmas muddy buddies, brownie crinkle cookies, or any of your other favorites.

Tips

  • Mix your cookie dough until just combined for the best texture. Don’t overmix!
  • Fold the caramel chips into the cookie dough to prevent forming more gluten.
  • For extra soft cookies, try using cake flour. It produces less gluten than all-purpose flour.
  • Loosely spoon your flour into your measuring cup and level it off with a knife to prevent packing the flour and using too much.
