Brisket Bruschetta

Jump to Recipe

Our brisket bruschetta tops golden toasted French bread slices with a rich, creamy herbed ricotta cheese mix and warm lean brisket to create an appetizer filled with a variety of interesting textures and delicious flavors in every bite.

A wood surface with over a dozen little toasted brisket bruschetta with a ricotta cheese and herb mixture and BBQ sauce drizzled over the top.

We love appetizer recipes of any kind. There’s just something about a poppable, bite-sized finger food like garlic cheese toast or our spicy mozzarella sticks with Italian sausage that makes any event better. Heck, we’ve both been known to pair up a few and serve them as a fun family dinner for special occasions like a movie night.

We make all kinds of appetizers, but our favorites are the ones that combine things you might not expect, like these avocado empanadas. That’s what we did with our brisket bruschetta. By combining the toast with herbed ricotta and brisket slices, we created an appetizer with much more flavor and texture than you’d expect from traditional bruschetta. And bonus: it’s so easy to make!

  • Super Easy: The only real work involved in this recipe is slicing the bread and mixing the ricotta. It’s so easy.
  • So Much Flavor and Texture: The combination of the crispy toast, creamy ricotta, and tender, deeply-flavored brisket packs tons of flavor and texture into every bite.
  • Customizable: You can easily adjust the ingredients to make your own version.
  • Versatile: This recipe is perfect for any party or special occasion.

Ingredients

See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact amounts.

Variations

  • Brisket: Sliced roast beef or pork roast works well in place of brisket.
  • French Bread: Use a larger crusty bread loaf for bigger toast slices.
  • Herbs: You can use your favorite herbs in the ricotta cheese mixture. Choose anything that pairs well with beef, and you can’t go wrong.
  • A Bit of Heat: Add a pinch of cayenne or a little red pepper flakes for a little heat.

Instructions

A baking sheet covered with foil with small slices of round French bread and olive oil drizzled over them.

Step 1: Toast the French bread slices.

Step 2: Thoroughly mix the ricotta and herbs in a small bowl.

Step 3: Spread the ricotta over each toast slice and top with a warm diced brisket.

Step 4: Drizzle with balsamic vinegar or BBQ sauce.

Tips

  • Use a sharp serrated knife and as little pressure as possible to slice the bread. This helps it maintain its shape and pretty crust.
  • Lean brisket is best for this recipe.
  • ยฝ inch is the sweet spot for the bruschetta toast slices. That’s thick enough to stand up to the topping but thin enough for easy eating.
  • Use day-old bread if possible. It’s sturdier and toasts beautifully.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best bread for brisket bruschetta?

Bruschetta requires a bread that’s sturdy, crusty, and won’t get soggy when you add your toppings. Good choices include ciabatta, French baguette, country-style loaf bread, and sourdough.

How do you slice brisket for brisket bruschetta?

No matter the recipe in which it’s used, brisket should always be sliced against the grain. Slicing against the grain ensures tender, flavorful brisket slices that are neither tough nor chewy.

What herbs go well with ricotta cheese?

Ricotta’s creamy texture and mild flavor make it perfect with herbs like oregano, basil, chives, parsley, and garlic.

I tried this brisket bruschetta for a get-together, and it was a huge hit. Itโ€™s such a clever way to use brisket, and the smoky meat paired perfectly with the crisp bread.
