I love serving dips at parties and get-togethers. When we have a game day gathering, I always set out a variety of dips ranging from French onion to artichoke, spinach, and plain salsa. Of course, living here in Texas, I feel that no dip spread is complete without the spicy, bold flavor of Mexican-inspired offerings like this jalapeno cilantro dip. It makes a fantastic addition to any party, movie night, or after-school snack for your children and their friends. It’s been one of my favorite dips to make for years now, and I think that once you try it, you’ll be in love with it, too.

Jalapeno Cilantro Dip

This delicious dip starts with a cool, creamy base of cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. I add roasted jalapenos, lime juice, ranch seasoning, and Slap Ya Mama seasoning for a huge blast of flavor and a big, bold kick of heat. Every dip of your chip delivers the heat and flavor that you expect from a really good Tex-Mex dip. No matter where I bring this dip, I never have leftovers, and that’s really the mark of whether a recipe is good or not, isn’t it?

This is an incredibly simple recipe, and as such, I don’t have very many tips for this one. They’re all about safety when handling both peppers. I have a couple of variations here that you can try, as well.

Tips

  • Wear gloves if possible when working with hot peppers and always wash your hands immediately after handling them.
  • NEVER touch your face, especially your eyes, when working with hot peppers.
  • You know your peppers are properly roasted when the skin is bubbly but not black.

Variations

  • You can use full-fat Greek yogurt in place of sour cream for this recipe. They taste almost exactly the same.
