If you’re looking for the ultimate dip for your next get-together, then look no further. You’ve found it. I make this delicious dip for all kinds of occasions, from potlucks and backyard bashes to movie nights when I lay out a little spread for the family to snack on while we watch our favorite films. No matter what kind of event I bring this dip to, I never leave with leftovers. It’s that good. It’s so good, in fact, I thought it was high time that I shared it with all of you.

Hot Crab Artichoke Dip

This is one of my absolute favorite dips to make for any occasion. It’s so delicious and it’s a nice change of pace from the traditional dips that we normally see at events and parties. Cream cheese and sour cream form the base for this dip. From there, the artichoke hearts and lump crab meat take center stage. From there, we complete the flavor profile with parmesan and Monterey jack cheeses, along with onions and garlic for a zesty kick. It’s absolutely delicious, especially when served piping hot!

Easy Party Dip

Another huge plus for this recipe is how easy it is to make. It’s full of flavor, but it’s not full of work. That’s always a welcome part of any recipe, especially when you’re creating it for some kind of gathering. The less stress the better! This dip comes together so quickly, you won’t even have time to start stressing out. Well, you won’t have time to stress out about this dip anyway…

Variations

This dip is perfect just as it is, but there are a few simple tweaks that you can make to it to change things up a bit.

Different Cheese

I love Monterey Jack in this recipe, but you can use any cheese that you really love. Some of my favorite recommendations are:

  • Cheddar cheese
  • Colby Jack
  • Mozzarella

Spinach

Spinach makes an excellent addition to this dip. We all know how delicious spinach dip is, so it only makes sense to add it for a little something different to this recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions about this crab artichoke dip, then I have the answers. The following questions are the most frequently asked about this tasty dip.

Can you make crab dip ahead of time?

If you know that your dip will be completely eaten or almost completely eaten when you make it the next day, feel free to make it the night before. Crab dip is only good for about 3 days, so you have to be sure that if you make it ahead of time, you’ll eat it all within 2 days.

What is the best crab meat for dips?

Any lump crab meat will do, but Phillips Special Crab Meat is one of the best around. It’s made from the white meat of blue crabs, a sweet crab meat. It’s perfect for everything from dips to seafood salad.

Can you freeze crab dip?

You can freeze crab dip for up to 3 months. Place the chilled crab and artichoke dip in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag for up to 3 months.

How long does crab dip last in the fridge?

This dip will keep for about 3 days in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Can you reheat crab dip?

Yes, you can. Simply microwave it at 30-second intervals until heated through.

How to Make Crab Artichoke Dip

Making this dip is incredibly easy. It only takes a few simple steps to prepare. It comes together so quickly and so easily!

Step 1: Sauté the Onions and Garlic

Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet, or frying pan, over medium heat. Then, sauté the onions until tender. Next, add the garlic and sauté for another minute.

Step 2: Add the Remaining Ingredients

Add the cream cheese to the onion mixture. Reduce the heat to low and cook until melted, stirring constantly. Then, add the sour cream, fold in the artichoke hearts, lump crabmeat, shredded parmesan, and Monterey Jack cheese. Stir together until completely combined. If needed, add to large mixing bowl to incorporate fully.

Step 3: Bake

Pour the mixture into a 9×13 baking dish coated with non-stick cooking spray. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Serve hot on toasted sliced baguette or with pita chips, crackers or tortilla chips. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with green onions and parsley.
