Honey Nut Cheerio Marshmallow Treats are a nutty twist on the classic favorite snack. These treats are easy to make, full of gooey goodness, and topped with a butterscotch drizzle.
If you like Rice Krispies treats, then you’re going to love this delicious twist on an old favorite. I’ve been making Rice Krispies marshmallow treats for just about as long as I can remember. They’ve been a staple in my home since the kids were old enough to enjoy sweet treats. I often packed them in my kids’ lunches or kept a try of them ready for after-school snacks. They’re so easy to make and so delicious, they’ve been the perfect recipe to satisfy everyone in the family over the years.
Although we all love these marshmallow treats, after years of making them the same way over and over, they started to get tired and boring. That’s when I decided to give them a new twist by replacing the Rice Krispies with Honey Nut Cheerios. It takes those basic treats and gives them a great new flavor that’s been a big hit since I started making them. My grandchildren go nuts for them. And the adults aren’t far behind!

These treats take everything we love about the traditional crispy rice variety and stands it on its head with a tasty honey nut flavor. Honey Nut Cheerios are combined with melted marshmallows, butterscotch, and chopped peanuts to create the ultimate marshmallow treat. It starts with melted marshmallows enveloping our favorite sweet cereal. Then, as you chew, you realize that you’re getting the flavor of something extra. What is it? Oh! It’s butterscotch. And what’s this? Crunchy peanuts, too? I guarantee you’ve never had marshmallow treats like these before.

Why Do Homemade Rice Krispies Get Hard?
Using heat that’s too high to melt the marshmallows is almost always the reason that people end up with rock-hard Rice Krispies treats. Always melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat to keep your treats soft and chewy.
How Do You Make Rice Crispy Treats Without Getting Hard?
The first step is to melt the marshmallows over low heat as we just discussed. In addition to that, don’t over-stir the mixture, don’t press the mixture into the pan to densely, and always store them in an airtight container.
Why Do My Rice Krispies Treats Taste Stale?
If your treats have a soggy or stale texture, the most likely cause is that too much butter was added. Be sure to add only as much butter as the recipe calls for.
Why Did My Marshmallows Not Melt?
If your marshmallows are too old, they lost their moisture. When marshmallows get old and dried out, they only cook when exposed to fire rather than melting when heat is applied.

You can store these treats in an airtight container or storage bag at room temperature for up to a week if you use salted butter, which I recommend.
