Cooking the Chicken
This very well could be the easiest way to cook a delicious and juicy chicken. Adding butter directly to the frying pan before the chicken not only acts as a non-stick and searing agent it adds a layer of velvety buttery flavor while cooking. With the additions of the ranch seasoning and the bacon, this pasta dish will be requested over and over again!
Butter has a low scorching temperature. You’ll want to cook the chicken just until it is no longer pink. Over cooking chicken will result in it turning out dry, chewy and rubbery.
To make this chicken recipe even simpler, try using a rotisserie chicken. Just cut the chicken into bite size pieces. Make sure to sauté the onions and bell peppers until tender then add in the chicken and continue with the recipe as written.
How to Cook Pasta
Cooking pasta to an excellence is not as intimidating as it is made out to be. Here are a few tips for a flawless al dente pasta.
- Make sure you are using plenty of water in an oversized pot. As the water boils- cooking the pasta, it is also evaporating away.
- Let the water reach a rolling boil. Upon adding the pasta to the water, it will immediately cool down. To keep the bubbling going, place a lid on the pot.
- Salt the water. The only seasoning your pasta will receive before it is mixed with the mouthwatering flavors of ranch chicken and bacon is during the cooking process.
- Be sure to stir the pasta promptly for a couple of minutes to prevent any stick. The starches in the pasta will make it stick to the bottom of the pan and cook stuck together.
- Taste the pasta a couple of minutes before the package directions says it done. Al dente pasta should be firm with a bite to it.
- Drain the water but do not rinse it. The same starch that comes off of the pasta during the first couple minutes of cooking is the same starch that will help the sauce stick.
- Adding the creamy sauce mixture to the al dente pasta will complete the cooking process. Leave the heat on low. The sauces and flavors will all marry together while reaching the perfect level of tenderness.
Who does not love bacon?
Bacon is an American essential. Any dish with bacon included always jumps higher on the popularity charts. Whether you wish to have crispy bacon or bacon with a bit of a chew, cooking bacon is easy and can be done many different ways.
The classic way to cook bacon like my mom always did was on the stovetop. In a skillet or large frying pan, the bacon was placed in a single later in the hot pan. As the bacon cooks it releases the fats and oils from the meat causing bacon grease. Bacon grease can splatter and pop if the pan is too hot. Keep the flame at a medium to prevent any grease spray. If you are anything like me, you prefer a crispy bacon.
My favorite method of cooking bacon is in the oven. Arrange in a single layer on a foil lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes depending on the level of crisp you prefer. If your choice of cooking methods is either of the two already mentioned, place the bacon on a paper towel lined large plate after removing from the skillet, pan, or baking sheet. The paper towel will help to soak up any excess grease.
Lastly, my sister’s favorite method is in the microwave. Place the bacon on a paper towel lined large plate and cover with another paper towel or two to prevent a messy microwave. The paper towels act as dual use while also soaking up the excess grease while cooking. Stick it in the microwave for 4 to 6 minutes. Bacon is near effortless to cook any way you chose yet always packs a punch! For a healthier choice, try turkey bacon.
