Air Fryer Alexia Onion Rings FAQ

If you have questions about this recipe then read on. The following FAQ answers the most commonly asked questions about onion rings and this recipe.

Where did onion rings originate?

No one can agree exactly, but the most popular story is that The Pig Stand, a Texas restaurant chain, first served them. There’s also a 1933 Crisco add that features a recipe for deep-fried onion rings.

What temperature do you cook frozen onion rings in the air fryer?

It varies from recipe to recipe, but in general, it’s anywhere from 390 to 400f degrees.

Do I thaw frozen onion rings before cooking?

No. Frozen onion rings are designed to be cooked from frozen. Most of the time, there will actually be a message on the bag stating that you shouldn’t defrost them.

Do you need to preheat an air fryer?

Yes! I don’t know where the myth got started that you don’t have to preheat an air fryer, but you absolutely do. Air fryers are just small convection ovens, and they still need to preheat for proper cooking.

How do I preheat my air fryer?

Simply turn it on, set it to the required temperature, and let it set for a minimum of 3 minutes. That’s all there is to it.

How to Store and Reheat Leftover Onion Rings

You can store these onion rings in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. I recommend only making as much as will be eaten at one time, however. While you can reheat them, they’re never as good.

To reheat onion rings, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Microwave the onion rings for 10 seconds to get the middle warm. Then, cook the onion rings on a baking sheet uncovered for 5 to 6 minutes.
