My spinach artichoke cheese bread is fully loaded with rich, creamy spinach artichoke dip and a metric ton of cheese, and it’s all layered on top of toasted French bread. I love to make this fresh from the oven for parties of all kinds, and my kids frequently ask for it. There’s really never a wrong time to serve this melty, delicious cheesy bread, and it shows. Everyone always devours it!

Spinach Artichoke Cheese Bread

This delicious bread starts with a large French bread loaf that’s been cut in half lengthwise. Then, I top it with homemade spinach artichoke dip loaded with spinach, artichoke, and parmesan cheese. I top all of that with a ton of mozzarella cheese, and then I bake it until the bread it toasted and the cheesy is super melty. In the end, everyone gets to enjoy crusty bread that’s filled to capacity with cheese, melty flavor that they can’t get enough of.

You’ll only need a few simple ingredients to make this recipe. Most of these may be in your kitchen, already, and if they aren’t you’ll find them easily at your local grocery store.

How to Make Spinach Artichoke Cheese Bread

Making this bread is mostly the same as making regular cheese bread. You only have the added step of making the spinach artichoke dip, and that is simply just a matter of mixing. You’ll be in and out of the kitchen in no time with this one.

Step 1: Prep

Preheat the oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or lightly spray it with nonstick spray. Set aside.

2: Make the Spinach Artichoke Dip: Add the thawed spinach, artichoke, mayonnaise, sour cream, and parmesan to a medium bowl and mix until combined.

3: Make the Bread: Spread the mixture over the top of each half of the French bread loaf and bake until the bread starts to brown.

4: Add the Cheese: Top the bread with the mozzarella cheese and bake again until the cheese is melted. Cut into slices and enjoy!

This bread will keep for up to 4 days in an airtight container.

Can you freeze leftover spinach artichoke cheese bread?

I don’t recommend it. Recipes made with mayonnaise and/or sour cream, especially dips like the one used in this recipe, tend to break when defrosted, making a watery, grainy mess.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz frozen spinach, thawed (squeeze excess water from spinach)
  • 14.65 oz quartered artichoke hearts, chopped
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan, shredded
  • 3 cup mozzarella, shredded
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350° and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, add thawed spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, mayonnaise, sour cream, and Parmesan cheese. Stir to combine.
  • Spread spinach mixture over the top of both sides of the bread.
  • Bake in the oven just until the bread starts to brown.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Return to the oven and continue baking until the cheese is melted.
  • Cut into desired size pieces and enjoy.

Notes

Tips
  • To remove as much water as possible from the spinach, line a colander with a paper towel. Then, add the spinach and top it with another paper towel. Press down firmly to squeeze as much water as possible from the spinach, then simply remove the top paper towel and transfer the spinach to the bowl.
  • Baking the bread twice is the key to getting it crisp and all the ingredients hot and delicious. Don’t try to add everything onto the bread and bake it once.
  • Let your bread sit for a couple of minutes for easier cutting.
