Caramel Apple Slices

These delicious caramel apple slices are made with Granny Smith apples that are coated in a cinnamon a sugar mixture, then a caramel candy on top of the apple slice, wrapped with puff pastry strips, baked to flaky perfection, and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 box puff pastry sheets
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, core center, sliced into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • coarse sugar, for topping
  • Optional: caramel sauce, caramel candy squares, roll into strips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut puff pastry sheets into ½ inch thick strips.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle over apple wedges.
  • Add caramel strip on the top of the apple wedges
  • Wrap puff pastry strips around each apple wedge securing the caramel on the apple.
  • Place wrapped apple wedges on the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk egg and water together.
  • Brush the tops of the puff pastry wrapped apples with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven, and enjoy.
