For the filling

  • 8 peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

For the topping

  • cups flour
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup sugar
  • teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar


  • Preheat oven to 425°.
  • Add peaches to a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, lemon juice, and nutmeg.
  • Stir until peaches are evenly coated.
  • Pour peach mixture into an ungreased 13x9 baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, remove from the oven, and set aside.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk flour, sugars, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Using a pastry cutter, cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture becomes crumbly.
  • Pour in boiling water and mix well.
  • Spoon mixture on top of peaches and spread making sure to cover the entire dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over cobbler.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
  • Best served warm with vanilla ice cream.
