Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°.

For the Biscuits

  • In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
  • Using a pastry cutter or 2 forks, cut the cold butter into the flour mixture.
  • Add in the milk, buttermilk, and egg. Mix until just combined.
  • Transfer dough to a well-floured surface. Lightly sprinkle top of dough with flour and knead 10-15 times.
  • Roll/pat dough out to 1 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  • Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Brush tops of biscuits with buttermilk and bake for 10-12 minutes or until tops of biscuits are slightly brown.
  • Remove from oven.

For the Gravy

  • In a large skillet, add breakfast sausage and break up sausage while cooking over medium heat.
  • Once the sausage is completely cooked, add butter into the pan.
  • Sprinkle flour, Slap Ya Mama®, pepper, and garlic powder over sausage and stir until well coated. Cook for about 2-3 minutes stirring constantly.
  • Pour in milk while stirring constantly. Once milk is fully incorporated, reduce heat and simmer until the gravy thickens, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Serve over warm biscuits.
