Maple Iced Donuts

These Maple Donuts are made completely from scratch making them incredibly soft and fluffy and then they're dipped in a delicious maple glaze.

For the Maple Icing

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar and salt.
  • Add yeast and stir. Next, add egg yolks and butter. Stir.
  • Using a stand mixer with the dough attachment
  • While mixing, slowly add warm milk.
  • Mix until dough is elastic and doesn’t stick to the bowl.
  • Form dough into a ball.
  • Place dough ball back into bowl, cover with kitchen towel and let rise for 45 minutes or until dough has doubled in size.
  • Transfer dough onto a well-floured surface and knead with hands,
  • Cut dough into 8 balls and flatten.
  • Cut out center of dough and set aside.
  • Place donuts on a baking sheet and cover with a towel. Let rest for 20 minutes.
  • Heat oil over medium heat. Once oil is hot, fry donuts for 3-4 minutes or until brown on each side.
  • Remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess oil.

For the Maple Icing

  • In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, maple extract and vanilla extract together until smooth.
  • Dip the top of each donut into the maple icing and place donut on a wire rack. Top with your favorite sprinkles and let set up.
